Honorable Mention: Matthew Miller, Poet, Exeter
Matthew Miller is a poet and educator. He has published one book of poems, Cameo Diner, and his poems and essays have appeared in numerous journals, including Harvard Review, Slate¸ Connecticut Review, and Literary Traveler.
Miller has taught at a number of schools including Stanford University, UMass-Lowell, Tufts University, New England College, and Endicott College. From 2005 to 2007, Miller was a Wallace Stegner Fellow in Poetry at Stanford University. He has also worked as a freelance writer and editor.
Miller currently works as an English instructor at Phillips Exeter Academy, where he also co-directs a summer conference for teaching writers. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale University and an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College.
In his artist statement Miller wrote, “The manuscript I am working on, tentatively titled Club Icarus, largely focuses on what it means to be a son and father in a fragile world.”
